Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 5/5

Dear friends,

So it’s 10 minutes before I sleep, and I just finished Opal about four minutes ago- right after I unsuccessfully tried to dig up the synopsis of Origin. Yeah, yeah, I should be reviewing the first two books before I do the third but I can’t stop myself. It was just that good.

oh my god. WHAT THE DUCK. I have a faulty copy. This isn’t the real ending.

OH MY GOD IT’S THE REAL ENDING.

WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE THIS JENNIFER? WHY. WHY. WHY.

But I gotta say. The cover kind of makes up for it though…

YEAH! DAEMON BLACK IS BACK!

YEAH! DAEMON BLACK IS BACK!

Heh. Heh.

Actually, yeah I knew the ending was coming. But even then, Armentrout did such a good job in keeping the tension up that even though I had a sense of what would probably happen, I still couldn’t peel my freaking fingers off the book. Yup. They were totally glued.

Even though I liked Adam, I still felt sorry for Blake. He did what he had to do, and it’s nice when Katy is honest with herself about that. Because I’m sure she’d do anything to protect the ones she loves. Katy develops and grows up alot in Opal, and it really strikes us when she interacts with her mom, or when she thinks about Dawson and Beth.

The only thing that annoyed me was…

Well, I like kick-ass warrior heroines. And Katy? She’s got a lot to learn. (Preferably from Rose Hathaway, if you’ve read Vampire Academy) It’s not that I want to change her personality, I get that she needs Daemon, but it would be more interesting if she could fight for herself.

Or maybe Armentrout is leaving this for the next book…because that would TOTALLY, TOTALLY make up for giving us that cliffhanger ending WITHOUT tossing us a sneak peak as well.

BECAUSE IT’S GOING TO TAKE UNTIL JULY FOR THE NEXT BOOK TO BE LET OUT. Yes. Six. Flipping. Months.

I don’t know if this is supposed to make my heart mend itself or what…

“There are five books planned in the Lux Series, not including Shadows. The last two books, Origin and Can’t Share Title yet are in dual POV (Katy and Daemon)”- Jennifer L. Armentrout http://www.jenniferarmentrout.com/opal-release/

Dual POV?

Wait. What?

Dual POV? IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS…. NO WAY. We get Katy AND Daemon?

Oh, yeah.

Love always,
The Permanent Monday

P.S. You SO have to read this series if you haven’t yet, because you’re totally missing out on a load of eye-candy. SERIOUSLY. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12578077-obsidian
